A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Izabela Sylwia Hartmann, Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
The parties discussed the outcomes of the visit to Pridnestrovie on May 14 of this year by senior OSCE leadership, represented by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignazio Cassis and Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu. The diplomats exchanged views on the prospects for further engagement, including in the context of Chairperson Cassis’s invitation to visit Switzerland to discuss possibilities for intensifying the negotiation process.
Speaking about cooperation with the Moldovan side, Vitaly Ignatiev stated that, at this stage, Chisinau is focused exclusively on media and propaganda activities, which it exploits as a substitute for substantive, results-oriented dialogue. According to him, Moldova’s actions are widening the rift between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, as well as provoking a dangerous escalation of tensions in bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the Minister specifically emphasized that the OSCE must adhere to impartial and balanced approaches, ensuring that both sides of the conflict have the opportunity to provide objective information on the situation regarding the Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the interlocutors agreed to continue regular working contacts on the full range of issues of mutual interest.
