In light of yet another arrogant attack by a Moldovan political representative, who attempted to distort the rationale for the creation of the Together Social Support Fund by the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, we would like to draw attention to the following.
It is Moldova’s blockade measures – including the imposition of pseudo-fiscal obligations and the de facto withdrawal of resources from the Pridnestrovian economy – that pose direct risks to social stability and to the payment of wages, pensions, and benefits to the residents of Pridnestrovie.
Moldova is effectively holding the half-million-strong population of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic hostage, grossly violating international law and attempting, through administrative and economic pressure and blackmail, to create its own version of a ghetto in this part of the European continent.
Chisinau is cynically attempting to mislead the international community by speculating about its alleged willingness, at some unspecified point in the future and in some vague and non-transparent manner, to use the allocated funds as if for the needs of Pridnestrovie. It is strange why the talkative Moldovan propagandist failed to mention his written response sent today to the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry, in which he explicitly states that Moldova does not intend to return the substantial sums collected during the period of double customs duties, starting January 1, 2024.
This fact once again demonstrates Chisinau’s true attitude toward the people of Pridnestrovie and shatters the entire hollow myth about the existence of a civilized approach to conflict resolution. In reality, Moldova has no plan other than the desire to make the people of Pridnestrovie poorer by seizing their lawful funds.
If Moldova truly intends to seek ways to improve relations with Pridnestrovie, we expect this to be demonstrated through concrete actions, such as the transfer of funds previously withheld from Pridnestrovians to the “Together” Fund.
At the same time, we emphasize that the massive participation of Pridnestrovian citizens and organizations in contributing to the “Together” Fund, as well as the unanimous celebration of Victory Day, is the clearest evidence that the Pridnestrovian people are united and will continue to fight for their right to live on their native land and preserve their identity.
