Vitaly Ignatiev Holds Meeting with Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Izabela Hartmann

03/27/26

On March 27, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Izabela Sylwia Hartmann, Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

During the dialogue, the diplomats reviewed the outcomes of several significant recent visits conducted under the auspices of the OSCE, in particular those by the Special Representative of the Chairperson-in-Office, Thomas Lenk, and the Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly, Kyriakos Hadjiyianni.

The parties also discussed the current state of relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. Vitaly Ignatiev called for meetings of several expert (working) groups to be held in the near future, including on economic, environmental, and crime-fighting issues. In his view, this will allow for the proper preparation and conduct of the next meeting at the level of representatives on political issues.

At the same time, in light of the destructive statements by Chisinau in official correspondence and the media, the Minister called on the OSCE to contribute to preserving established negotiation mechanisms and addressing practical issues, while preventing Moldova from withdrawing from the negotiating table.

Separately, during the discussion, the issue of the functioning of the VROs was raised, including the possibility of registering Pridnestrovian ambulances to ensure their ability to travel to medical facilities abroad if necessary, which would serve as an important humanitarian tool.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants agreed to continue systematic working contacts across the entire spectrum of current areas of cooperation.
